* All Scripture is to be interpreted in light of Jesus Christ.

* Because Scripture in God’s Word and truth, we need to commit ourselves to study all of it, even those parts that may appear difficult or we consider irrelevant to a modern era.

* In studying Scripture, we are to submit our minds to the Lord that He might open them to understand divine truth.

  4. And while he was blessing them, he left them and was carried up into heaven.
  5. After worshiping him, they returned to Jerusalem with great joy.
  6. And they were continually in the temple praising God.

Lasting truths from: Luke 24:48-53

*  True followers of Christ are to be witnesses of the gospel of repentance and remission of sins.

* The Lord will empower His witnesses for the task to which He has called them; it is our responsibility to receive it.

* God’s promises can be counted on; He does not lie.

* Followers of Christ continually worship Him with great joy.

As you reflect on this session, respond to the following questions:

  1. What is your personal story of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior? How prepared are you to share that story with others as your witness to the gospel?
  2. Ask the Lord to direct you to an opportunity to serve. What do you need to do to clothe yourself with power from on high so that you are equipped to seize that opportunity?
  3. Sing or read a song of the cross and another of the resurrection as an expression of your personal worship to the Lord for saving you from sin.
  4. Would you characterize your worship as filled with great joy? Why is worship a joyful experience for you?

Closing Prayer:

“Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died on the cross to forgive me of my sins and rose from the dead to give me new life. I’m sorry for all the wrong I’ve done and ask You to forgive me. I now accept Your gift of eternal life. Thank You for Your love, forgiveness, and a new life in Jesus Christ. From this day forward, I choose to follow You. In Jesus’ name Amen.”
