The Point: Humbly place the needs of others before your own.
The Passages: Philippians 2:1-5, 13-15
Study The Bible: Philippians 2:1-4
1). Humbly Look Out For the Needs and Interests of Others.
- If then there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and mercy,
- make my joy complete by thinking the same way, having the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.
- Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves.
- Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Lasting truths from Philippians 2:1-4
- As believers, the encouragement and love we show for others can only come from Christ.
- As believers, we are to be united in purpose, working together to achieve Christ’s purposes.
- We are always to consider others as more important than ourselves.
2). Jesus Is Our Example of Humility and Submission.
- Adopt the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus,

- Jesus is our only true example of humility and submission.
- Through His Spirit, we have the mind of Christ.
- When we have the mind of Christ, we put the needs of others above our own.
3). Submit Without Grumbling, Complaining, or Arguing.
Philippians 2:13-15
- For it is God who is working in you both to will and to work according to his good purpose.
- Do everything without grumbling and arguing,
- so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God who are faultless in a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine like stars in the world.
Lasting truths from Philippians 2:13-15
- God is continually working in us.
- God’s work in us instills in us the desire to serve Him.
- We are to serve God in love without complaining or being defensive.
- Because God has saved us, we are as lights in a dark world.
