Subject: Jesus Opened My Eyes to the Truth
The Point: Jesus led me to increasingly see who He is.
Scriptures: John 9:1-7,32-33,35-38
Study The Bible: John 9:1-7
1). Jesus brought glory to God by what He did for me.
- As he was passing by, he saw a man blind from birth.
- His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
- “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” Jesus answered. “This came about so that God’s works might be displayed in him.
- We must do the works of him who sent me while it is day. Night is coming when no one can work.
- As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
- After he said these things he spit on the ground, made some mud from the saliva, and spread the mud on his eyes.
- “Go,” he told him, “wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So he left, washed, and came back seeing.
Lasting truths from: John 9:1-7
* Not all trails are directly related to particular sins.
* We often endure hard times to bring glory to God in them.
* Faith and obedience are crucial when going through a trail.
2). I could see that God was at work through Jesus.
John 9:32-33
- Throughout history no one has ever heard of someone opening the eyes of a person born blind.
- If this man were not from God, he wouldn’t be able to do anything.”
Lasting truths from: John 9:32-33
* People should share what Christ has done in their lives.
* Seeing Jesus’s connection to God is crucial in recognizing His activity.
* Those who cannot argue truth often resort to violence to oppose the people of God.
3). Jesus opened my eyes to see the truth about Him.
John 9:35-38
- Jesus heard that they thrown the man out, and when he found him, he asked. “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”
- “Who is he, Sir, that I may believe in him?” he asked.
- Jesus answered, “You have seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.”
- “I believe, Lord!” he said, and he worshiped him.
Lasting truth from: John 9:35-38
* Jesus calls us to surrender ourselves to His lordship.
* Believing in the works of Jesus is not always the same as believing in His Person.
* True belief in Jesus leads us to worship Him.

As you reflect on this session, respond to the following questions:
- How can spiritual blindness show up in the lives of unbelievers?
- Why is it important to see obedience and worship in the lives of believers?
- How did Jesus show initiative toward the blind man?
Closing Prayer:
“Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died on the cross to forgive me of my sins and rose from the dead to give me new life. I’m sorry for all the wrong I’ve done and ask You to forgive me. I now accept Your gift of eternal life. Thank You for Your love, forgiveness, and a new life in Jesus Christ. From this day forward, I choose to follow You. In Jesus’ name Amen.”
