Subject: Set Apart: The Holiness of God
The Point: God is holy and set apart from everything else in His creation.
Scriptures: Psalm 99:1-9
Study The Bible: Psalm 99:1-3
1). God is set apart in His greatness.
- The Lord reigns! Let the peoples tremble. He is enthroned between the cherubim. Let the earth quake.
- The Lord is great in Zion; he is exalted above all the peoples.
- Let them praise your great and awe-inspiring name. He is holy.
Lasting truths from: Psalm 99:1-3
* God is the greatest of kings.
* All people owe God honor and worship.
* God’s holiness is the foundation of His greatness.
2). Go is set apart in His justice.
Psalm 99:4-5
- The mighty King loves justice. You have established fairness; you have administered justice and righteousness in Jacob.
- Exalt the Lord our God; bow in worship at his footstool. He is holy.
Lasting truths from: Psalm 99:4-5
* A good leader loves justice.
* Justice and righteousness reveal to whom we belong.
* Worship is a response to God’s righteousness.
3). God is set apart in His actions toward us.
Psalm 99:6-9
- Moses and Aaron were among his priests; Samuel also was among those calling on his name. They called to the Lord and he answered them.
- He spoke to them in a pillar of cloud; they kept his decrees and the statutes he gave them.
- Lord our God, you answered them. You were a forgiving God to them, but an avenger of their sinful actions.
- Exalt the Lord our God; bow in worship at his holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy.
Lasting truths from: Psalm 99:6-9
* When we call upon the Lord, He answers us.
* God is not distant from His people.
* The proper response to God is to obey His commands.

As you reflect on this session, respond to the following questions:
- How would you describe God’s holiness?
- Do you believe that God hears you?
- What are ways you can worship God through the week?
Closing Prayer:
“Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died on the cross to forgive me of my sins and rose from the dead to give me new life. I’m sorry for all the wrong I’ve done and ask You to forgive me. I now accept Your gift of eternal life. Thank You for Your love, forgiveness, and a new life in Jesus Christ. From this day forward, I choose to follow You. In Jesus’ name Amen.”
