Subject: Created for a Purpose
The Point: God values each of us and created us for a purpose.
The Passage: Jeremiah 1:4-10
Study The Bible: Jeremiah 1:4-5
1). God has a purpose for every life.
- The word of the Lord came to me:
- I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born. I appointed you a prophet to the nations.
Lasting truths from Jeremiah 1:4-5
- Life begins at conception, not at birth.
- God not only begins life in the womb at conception. He has a plan for each person as well.
- We must not succumb to the temptation that the number of abortions per year in America are so great they overwhelm us into thinking we can do nothing about this tragedy.
- Deliberately ending life in the womb is murder just as much as was Cain’s murder of his brother, Abel.
2). God is with us to carry his purpose.
Jeremiah 1:6-8
- But I protested, “Oh no, Lord God! Look, I don’t know how to speak since I am only a youth.”
- Them the Lord said to me: Do not say, “I am only a youth,” for you will go to everyone I send you to and speak whatever I tell you.
- Do not be afraid of anyone, for I will be with you to rescue you. This is the Lord’s declaration.
Lasting truths from Jeremiah 1:6-8
- We are never too young or too inept to do what God wants us to do.
- We must not be afraid to do God’s will since He has assured us of His presence during difficult times.
3). God equips us with what we need to carry out his purpose.
Jeremiah 1:9-10
- Then the Lord reached out his hand, touched my mouth, and told me: I have now filled your mouth with my words.
- See, I have appointed you today over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and demolish, to build and plant.
Lasting truths from Jeremiah 1:9-10
- God will provide the necessary means and ability for us to accomplish His purposes in our lives.
- We must take God at His word that He will equip us for every task He gives us and then move forward in faith to do it.
- Refusing to repent and return to the Lord when we have sinned can have devastating consequences.
- God always keeps His promises.

As you reflect on this session, respond to the following questions.
- Do you believe that God has a right to place claims on your life? If not, why not?
- Do you want to honor God with your life in all that you do? What changes will this require of you in the way you live your life as opposed to what you have done in the past?
Closing Prayer:
“Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died on the cross to forgive me of my sins and rose from the dead to give me new life. I’m sorry for all the wrong I’ve done and ask You to forgive me. I now accept Your gift of eternal life. Thank You for Your love, forgiveness, and a new life in Jesus Christ. From this day forward, I choose to follow You, In Jesus’ name, Amen”
